Nick and Kelsey’s Milwaukee wedding was much anticipated. Not because it was at The Iron Horse Hotel, or because of all the wonderful details I knew I was going to get to shoot…but because it was their wedding. I remember the first time I met Nick and Kelsey. New to Wisconsin, driving to my husbands work Christmas party, not knowing anyone, wondering if it would be a good time…I must admit, I was a little anxious. As soon as I met Kelsey, all of my nerves were put to rest. I hit it off with her right away, and she immediately wanted to try on my wedding ring (every Christmas party she had to try it on…always made me laugh). I think she was giving Nick the hint a loooong time ago.
The last Christmas party was a little different. I remember asking Nick when he was going to pop the question. He had this look upon his face when I asked, and I didn’t push it. Kelsey, on the other hand was diving right into it, saying how they’ll probably get engaged when she’s done with school, and how there’s no rush (all while wearing my wedding ring).
Kelsey went to get a drink. Nick, all of a sudden, said “I’m proposing to her in New York next week.” My mouth dropped. Not only was I beyond excited, Kelsey had NO idea…and, here I was hoping I could keep my mouth shut the rest of the night!
Your wedding was absolutely beautiful…minus the fact I was bawling my eyes out at your father’s speech, Kelsey. Thank God for my camera covering up my ‘ugly cry’ face. Ha! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness, and years of great Christmas party’s where maybe I’ll be trying on your gorgeous ring. Enjoy…
